What is ACCESS?

 

Portage County Multicultural Access (ACCESS), as a division of the Portage County Cultural Festival, Inc., is committed to helping and promoting a hospitable environ-ment/culture wherein foreign and minority(especially new) residents of Portage County thrive and live productively. This benefits not only those who may access the resources but enriches the community as a whole through increased and sustained diversity of our population.

 

The initial project ACCESS has undertaken is the development of a MULTICULTURAL RESOURCE GUIDE and network of community resource persons to enhance the appeal of our community by helping acclimate new-comers to our community and provide opportunities for others to learn more about the cultural and ethnic diversity of Portage County:

 

To create this guide, ACCESS gathered in-formation on culture-specific resources that are available within our county. This guide will help link people of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds and assist them in supporting and celebrating their own unique cultures within our community. Resources will be updated periodically and the guide will be made available to a varied user base, locally and remotely, in multiple formats including print, electronic, online and eventu-ally by telephone.
