The Happy Notes Polka Band

Syrena Polish Folk Dance Ensemble, founded in 1975, first debuted its 14-minute Wesele Góralskie suite in 2014. Choreographed by Duane Tomka, the dance highlights the intricate footwork of the Podhale region in the Tatra Mountains of Poland, and dancers display many of the highlander wedding traditions that are still celebrated today.

This is a performance by Salaam of an original composition by Dena El Saffar called Ayoon Esood (Black Eyes).  The song is written in an Iraqi style.  Dena El Saffar is playing an Iraqi joza, and Tim Moore is playing an Egyptian dumbek. Our website is: SalaamBand.com

It is about forgetting hostilities and being friends again. We used to from house to house and gather friends and dance at street crossings. We used to go house to house to gather wood to burn at crossing and treats to share.
